Janet D. Fiore

Janet Fiore, is a national authority on disability, diversity and compliance policy and procedure for business, and the CEO of The Sierra Group. She’s an award-winning speaker and consultative trainer who routinely provides media input as well as testimony for Congress, the GSA and the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a woman with numerous disabilities, Janet combines her business and rehabilitation expertise, along with her own professional and personal accommodation experiences in order to ‘drive up’ employment success for all of her customers.

A host of non-apparent disabilities have fueled, more than limited Janet Fiore’s maverick style of work in the disability & employment space. Back in 1992 when the ADA was brand new, and the Vocational Rehab Act was amended to ensure that citizens with the most severe disabilities received vocational employment services first, Fiore founded The Sierra Group. Her goal then – and now: reverse the high rate of unemployment for Americans with disabilities through dignity and choices.

The first Assistive Technology vendor to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s OVR, Sierra Group has expanded this work statewide, and beyond, as The Sierra Group Academy now remotely assesses and trains customers with disabilities statewide in their journey to gain workplace skills from the comfort of their own homes.

Recognized by Corporate America as influencers on workplace inclusion, Janet and her team use a creative lens toward what is possible, while respecting the restraints of regulation, budgets and diverse points of view. After implementing over 10,000 reasonable accommodations in the workplace, its Sierra’s firsthand experiences that guide business customers to meet and exceed standards of ADA, WCAG, & OFCCP requirements.

Beyond our three decades serving the VR community, organizations including Toyota, Yahoo, Pfizer, Comcast, CapitalOne, U.S. Department of Labor, National Diversity Council and DirectEmployers Association members also rely on Sierra for custom workforce expertise in reasonable accommodation, digital accessibility and pre-packaged, on-demand, professional development trainings.

From 1992, to date, it’s been community involvement and collaborations that drives Janet’s enthusiasm for this work. She’s an active member of the Philadelphia Industry Liaison Group (PILG), Philadelphia SHRM, the Center City Business Proprietors Association and Rotary International. For fun Janet loves networking on the Hill, relaxing at the Jersey Shore, and enjoying the food & cultural scene in Center City Philadelphia.
