You will learn to recognize your own unconscious bias on the topic, and you will hear, first-hand, how people with disabilities feel about the subject. Materials and handouts include words to say, things to do/avoid, and valuable information on ensuring that you are INCLUSIVE of assistive technology users via our session on the important role of digital accessibility when it comes to inclusion.
This course is divided into 4 topical sections with a Knowledge Check (aka QUIZ) at the end of each section. You can take all four sections at one time, or pause and return at your own preferred pace. Total time is just over one hour.
No, this course does not have any required outside assignments. When you complete the videos and the quiz, you will receive a certificate of completion (pre-approved for 1 CEU with SHRM and HRCI) and be enlightened and ready to go out take more inclusive actions.
Yes. There is a True/False, and Multiple Choice Knowledge Check at the end of all four sections of this course. You can retake each quiz until you pass it. Quiz questions are designed to check and reinforce the learning points.
Yes. You will receive a certificate of completion after you successfully complete all four sessions and pass the Quizzes. This is your proof that you have completed One-hour of Professional development training. You can submit that certificate to organizations where you hold professional designations such as SHRM, CESP, HRCI, CRCC, etc. Most accept this certificate as proof of one-hour CEU.
Certified Disability Recruiter SealWe refer to this as our “short-course” as it is an overarching entrance to the topic of disability awareness and etiquette. It takes just one hour, with no homework. It is popular with line managers, and D&I or Compliance professionals who are looking to better understand how to be more inclusive in their day to day interactions with employees with disabilities. Because this course has been designed for “everyone” it allows all levels of employees to gain a much broader mindset of the topic of disability inclusion at work and in general activities of life. In contrast, Sierra’s DisabilityRecruiter© Certification course is 18 hours long and has mandatory practicum assignments that are reviewed by a Sierra consultant to fully certify that the person gaining this SEAL has developed the skills and tools they need to do all aspects of inclusive recruiting, interviewing and onboarding/accommodation.
No, however, you may earn one CEU toward your 10 hour re-certification requirement for your C.,D.R.
